Ka Ima B.Joux
Born in Paris, Ka Ima grew up, in a family of Artists in Dunkerque, France.
Her Father is a musician, her mother an Art teacher. Ka Ima had a pleasant childhood, although there was a lack of bond with the Afrikan community due to the fact that she had been adopted from a young age. Ka Ima is of Afrikan-Caribbean heritage (Karukera/ Madinina).
At the age of 18, during a short trip in London, Ka Ima discovers a great diversity and cultural wealth she had never imagined. Seduced by all this, she decided to move to the other side of the Channel. Little did she know that this was the beginning of a very interesting journey. She went from jobs to jobs, qualified as a Beauty Therapist, but her creativity was never fulfilled.
In 2005, she took a trip to Karukera to meet her biological mother for the first time.
This experience allowed her to get back in touch with her roots and her true self.
From then on started a new chapter of her life. Back in London, Ka Ima began a training in Art, design and crafts in Lambeth College and was later awarded a NCFE certificate in Silver Jewellery. Ka Ima started making her own pieces first for personal use, then as a hobby, which later became her profession.
2005 is the year when she had her first stall, soon after Ka Ima organised her own private jewellery parties during which she made numerous contacts, friends and networking.
